Manville Food Share Program

The Genesis Project's Food Share Program began in May of 2011 to assist residents of Northern Rhode Island trying to stretch their grocery budget.  Durring the last six years we have assisted hundreds of family in food distress while rescuing tens of thousands of pounds of food from being wasted. Our food share program is located at 11 Winter Street in Manville, RI and is open from 9 - 11am on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Food Outreach

The Genesis Project also provides food outreach in support of House of Compassion, a community residence located in Cumberland, RI offering residential care for those living with HIV/AIDS.

Since 1994, the House Of Compassion has provided case management, transportation and twenty-four hour direct supervision for residents. This unique facility has saved the state thousands of dollars by keeping homeless patients from interminable stays in hospitals and nursing homes.

The House of Compassion serves to bring a dignified care and rehabilitation to those afflicted by substance abuse, AIDS, and homelessness, and maintains a home-like environment where members are encouraged to act as a family. It has been used in other parts of the country as a model for financially effective community housing.

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, or how many great things we have done.  We will be judged by  "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me.
I was homeless, and you took me in.”
- Mother Teresa
